Real-time Performance Monitoring is an IT
tool and work process which provides a multi-dimensional view of manufacturing
performance. The objective of real-time performance monitoring is to drive
rapid operational decisions to improve operational excellence. This is
accomplished by providing a single point of reference for all data sources
which impact manufacturing, thus enabling real-time visibility to operational
performance both within a facility and across multiple manufacturing sites. Physical asset performance, with respect to
capability and actual delivery, is monitored, compared against defined business
benchmarks and corrective actions taken to improve customer satisfaction at the
lowest possible cost to serve.
This use case illustrates the power and
value of real-time performance information in conjunction with the Six Sigma
work process to solve immediate manufacturing challenges such as those
presented during commission or normal manufacturing operations.
